Artist Statement
Though my work I create tools for understanding, representations of my perspectives and thoughts, as well as simple poetic narratives. My work often times not grounded in the idea of absolutes, but is made from intersecting inspirations pulled from todays world and experiences. I utilize materials ranging from cast and fabricated metal, to dirt, to coal, to flocking, to cedar shakes and 2x4’s, and anything in between. I think of materials conceptually as well as aesthetically and look to employ materials that add conceptual conversation the work creates. I utilize traditional techniques as well as push materials and meaning to the with a new twist.
